Job Purpose

To collect and deliver customers' orders in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner using company vehicle. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Transports stock items in a professional manner while complying with vehicle safety requirements. 
  • Assures vehicles are clean and in working order.  
  • Communicates with warehouse staff to receive relevant data and instructions.  
  • Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe materials transportation.  
  • To liaise with the Company’s Vehicle Maintenance Workshop to ensure vehicle is in a roadworthy condition prior to commencement of trip.  
  • Daily liaise with supervisor to obtain loading plans for collection and delivery of customers’ products. 
  • Perform daily vehicle pre-trip checks prior of leaving the depot/warehouse, record findings in appropriate register and submit such checklist to Workshop Manager and Supervisor. 
  • Report any defects immediately to Workshop Manager and Supervisor. 
  • Immediately report any delays to supervisor and Customer Service Manager. 
  • Report accidents and incidents immediately following guidelines of the incident reporting procedure. 
  • Ensure that all paperwork is signed and returned to supervisor after each trip. 
  • Responsible to ensure that the loading and off-loading of trailer/s is done correctly and safety.  
  • Ensure adherence of all Company Procedures and Policies, e.g., Safety, Quality, Environment, Drug & Alcohol, Smoking, Seat Belt Policies, etc. 
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.  
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.  
  • Perform any other task related issue to your position as driver as instructed by your supervisor. 
Job Qualification and Experience 
  • Form Four Secondary Certificate   
  • Driving Certificate from NIT or VETA
  • Class C or E Driving License   
  • Minimum 5 years of heavy vehicle driving experience in Public Roads 
  • A clean Police Clearance Report
  • Age limit: At least 45Yrs
  • Fire Fighting training will be an added advantage
  • First Aid Training will be an added advantage
Knowledge and Skills
  • General Mechanical Knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Report writing skills.
  • Ability to use smart phone/electronic gadget i.e. TMS scanner  
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills. 

Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on a Fixed Term Contract.
