Job Purpose
The successful candidate will ensure that the company fleet under heavy plant and field service sections are maintained, serviced, and repaired to the acceptable standards by organizing, controlling, and managing the daily operation of the unit.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists the Transport Workshop Manager in the preparations and control of operational budget and ensure that expenditure is within the approved budget.
  • Plans organized and controlled operations under him which include service schedules for all vehicles, mobile pumps and heavy equipment as well as implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Prepares and compiles company fleet service and preventive maintenance schedules and ensures that they are adhered to. 
  • Trains team members to standards required by the company.
  • Conducts daily meetings with team members to allocate tasks according to the set work plan.
  • Ensures that safety instructions are adhered to in the section. 
  • Work with Section Planner to order fleet spares as required, ensuring that this is done cost effectively and that the necessary spares are available for repairs and services. 
  • Makes appropriate modification to vehicles and machinery whenever necessary. 
  • Adhering to Standard Operating Procedure and all other working standards as per company policy.
  • Report to supervisor any damage or issue that occurs at the section.
  • Ensure adherence to all company procedures and policies e.g. Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.

Job Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineer or equivalent
  • 3+ years’ experience in transport or vehicle workshop
  • Good business acumen and fleet expertise with ability to anticipate, interpret and respond to changes impacting on functional area.
  • Excellent on communication skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Computer literate with knowledge of office package and ERP (SAP S4) system

Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on a Permanent Contract.
