Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible to assist in supporting the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment by performing electrical and instrumentation maintenance, inspections, calibrations, repairs, and ensuring system integrity and reliability while minimizing downtime and adhering to safety standards

The successful candidate will be responsible to assist in supporting the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment by performing electrical and instrumentation maintenance, inspections, calibrations, repairs, and ensuring system integrity and reliability while minimizing downtime and adhering to safety standards
Specific job responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems (e.g., motors, MCCs, lighting, cables) and instruments (e.g., sensors, switches, transmitters).
- Calibrate field instruments and verify control loops in accordance with schedules and procedures.
- Assist in the troubleshooting of faults in PLC panels, junction boxes, and signal wiring.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams to guide installations and repairs.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and other safety procedures during work execution.
- Record all work performed in maintenance logs or computerized systems (e.g., CMMS).
- Support shutdown and startup activities by preparing equipment and restoring systems after maintenance.
- Performs all tasks according to Kilombero Sugar’s Quality, Safety, Health and Environment policies and procedures.
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by what you do or do not do.
- Co-operate with management to enable them to perform their duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- If any situation that is non- conforming to required standards, unsafe, or unhealthy, or anything that threatens to impact on the environment comes to your attention, report this to your superior using the existing incident report system.
- If you are involved in any incident that may affect your health or which has caused an injury to you, or impacted on the environment, report such incident to your superior not later than the end of the shift during which the incident occurred.
- Perform all tasks with “awareness” towards the prevention of any forms of pollution to the surrounding and environment.
- Maintain proper housekeeping within your area of responsibility.
- Propose improvements to work processes when appropriate and discuss any suggested changes with your supervisor before implementation.
- Ensure the integrity and reliability of all electrical systems, field instruments, and control circuits through hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Minimize equipment downtime and contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to technical standards and safety procedures
- Minimum NTA level 2 /equivalent in Electrical/Instrumentation from a recognized Institution.
- Basic knowledge in electrical, electronics, pneumatic circuits reading and interpreting, faults tracing and rectification
- 1-2 years in plant maintenance, industrial electrical systems, or instrumentation
- ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Understanding basics of industrial electrical systems.
- Basic knowledge of Electrical drawing packages.
- Basic knowledge of fitting of various electrical equipment and alignment.
- Millwright skills.
- Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation equipment and technology
- Safety procedures

- Co-ordination and communication skills
- Repair and overhaul of Electrical and Instrumentation equipment
