Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the foreign exchange exposure, liquidity, interest rate and applicable compliance risks associated with all treasury aspects for the Financial Controller. The Treasury Officer must design and utilize tools to anticipate, communicate and mitigate these risks in a timely manner

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Continuously assess the most efficient cash management strategies and advise the Financial Controller and Group Treasury of any required/appropriate changes.
  • Implement and maintain efficient cash management procedures to minimize financing costs by ensuring cash, held in low interest-bearing accounts, is applied against borrowings.
  • Obtain approval from Group Treasury for the opening and closing of bank accounts. Ensure bank accounts remain relevant and fit for purpose to reduce complexity and ensure that any dormant accounts are closed immediately.
  • Ensure bank charges are negotiated and reviewed regularly.
  • Monitor, assess and manage the liquidity risk of the operations by developing and using efficient cash forecasting tools, understanding the economic environment and ensuring adequate headroom is available on short term facilities.
  • Timely communicate pending liquidity risks and implement mitigations to the Financial Controller.
  • Negotiate facilities with banks in conjunction with Group Treasury and Group Legal obtaining final approval before execution.
  • On a continuous basis review and negotiate interest rates with banking counterparties to optimize finance costs.
  • Monitor banking covenants providing early warning and mitigation for potential breaches to the Financial Controller and Group Treasury.
  • Ensure timely repayment of loan capital and interest in accordance with agreements.
  • Ensure the cash, debt and interest forecasting tools are efficient and aligned with the official submitted forecasts.
  • Understand variances related to net debt, finance costs and exchange gains and losses. Report on reasons for variances to Group under the reporting requirements.
  • Carry out all reports relating to Treasury as required by the Group and the operation.
  • Assess foreign currency risk through the development and/or use of risk management tools and raise early warning flags for the Financial Controller to ensure that these risks are effectively managed.
  • Ensure the hedging strategy per the group policy is relevant to the operations and adhered 
  • Manage controls around hedge execution and recording of accounting transactions.
  • Ensure the foreign exposures of the operation are adequately hedged according to the hedging strategy and group treasury policy
  • Review and manage the updates to signatories for bank accounts and dealing mandates ensuring these are always relevant and up to date.
  • Facilitate the addition and removal of users on the business online platform in liaison with Bank.
  • Review and/or prepare the monthly group entity treasury report for submission to Group Treasury.
  • Ensure all treasury processes are documented.
  • Maintain an inventory of all finance agreements (including significant clauses and covenants), security given, guarantees and letters of comfort.
  • Prepare any necessary treasury related documentation for board approval.
Job Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Not less than 2 years relevant working experience
  • CPA Certification will be an added advantage
  • Good business analysis skills to generate business insight, add measurable value.
  • Exceptional accounting and reporting skills.
  • Goal-orientated and committed to delivering quality outputs.
  • Good self-management practices and able to work well in a team.
  • Ability to work with people at various levels of the business.
  • Ability to priorities, manage complexity and deal with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage across multiple entities to meet deadlines
Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on a Permanent Contract.
