Job purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible to maintain, repair, install and calibrate all instrumentation equipment, electronic and electro–pneumatic instruments and weighing devices to required standards and accuracy.

The successful candidate will be responsible to maintain, repair, install and calibrate all instrumentation equipment, electronic and electro–pneumatic instruments and weighing devices to required standards and accuracy.
Specific job responsibilities:
- Electrical /Instrumentation /Mechanical fault tracing and rectification
- Report writing
- Training of subordinates
- Hands-on involvement in maintenance work
- Conducts routine inspections of electronic field and control panel instruments, computers, DCS systems and Plc systems
- Do planned maintenance tasks to Ensures that instrumentation, electrical and mechanical equipment are in good working condition to ensure plant optimum operation
- Carries out allocated electronic & electro pneumatic calibration and/or repairing tasks
- Communicates and inform colleagues and Line Management on the functioning of instruments
- Reports on the status of the spares and requirements for the Distillery and associated sections
- Overhauls and calibrates electronic control instruments on all weighing equipment.
- Install and commissions instrumentation and electrical projects
- Install/Assist to install mechanical and electrical equipment and pumps
- Performs any other task as instructed or assigned.
- Ensure all processes are executed in local good practices for safety, health, environment and quality. This specifically includes the use of required personal protective equipment and ensuring all tasks are executed with safety in mind.
- To do maintenance effectively in order to assure equipment availability.
- Ensures that all operations are carried out as per the ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management System at Kilombero Sugar to achieve the quality standards.
- Performs all tasks according to Kilombero Sugar’s Quality, Safety, Health and Environment policies and procedures.
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by what you do or do not do.
- Co-operate with management to enable them to perform their duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- If any situation that is non- conforming to required standards, unsafe, or unhealthy, or anything that threatens to impact on the environment comes to your attention, report this to your superior using the existing incident report system.
- If you are involved in any incident that may affect your health or which has caused an injury to you, or impacted on the environment, report such incident to your superior not later than the end of the shift during which the incident occurred.
- Perform all tasks with “awareness” towards the prevention of any forms of pollution to the surrounding and environment.
- Assist the Production Team Lead under the instruction of the Maintenance Foreman E&I from a control perspective, to ensure that the distillery is operating as per procedure to produce the required alcohol quantity of the desired specification, to the budgeted potable ratio, steam and distillation efficiencies.
- Assist in solving process problems and deviations by taking the appropriate corrective action to meet production throughput, quality, steam and distillation efficiencies.
- Diploma in Instrumentation/ Electrical / NTA level 6 in Instrumentation Engineering from a recognized Institution.
- Full Technician Certificate in instrumentation or electronics.
- 2+ years in maintenance of Instrumentation in a chemical manufacturing facility, preferably a Distillery.
- Basic computer literacy with various control software.
- Basic Distillery knowledge.
